Books to Buy!

Any of these books may be ordered from
Classicbooks.com

A note on Classicbooks.com - This business is owned and operated by a home schooling mother of nine children. She knows her books! If you want a book and it is out of print, she can often track it down for you. It is impossible for her web site to offer all of the wonderful books a family could want, so if you don't see something - email her and ask! She can get DVDs, Books on Tape, as well as schooling workbooks and curriculums. She deals in moral, family oriented material along with the accepted literature classics. Classic Books are often found at home school conferences.

Logan Family Classics

Some of these books would be considered classics by most scholars. Some are simply our family favorites. I expect there will be disagreements. Hopefully, others will help me add to this list. I'm offering these suggestions at the encouragement of others who want ideas on inspiring or assisting their family thirst for literature.

"P" - My oldest was born in 1980 and my youngest in 1998, so the readers for these books consist of a wide range of ages.  I only list the books that I am comfortable with members of my family reading. But the age they read the books makes a huge difference. The books marked P are those that should be previewed by a parent to determine if appropriate for your child.

This list was begun July 30, 2004 and is a work in progress - so check back as I slowly add our personal classics in several categories over the next few weeks!

Adventure Novels

CLANCY, TOM  - P - Like many readers in America, our family has been throughly captivated by Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan and Clark.  Watching Jack Ryan relunctant career advancements which ultimately  puts him in the White House is a riviting adventure spanning several books. Clark's equalling heart-pounding life is rougher yet leaves you hoping there are some real-life Clarks out there who are fully capable of stopping the advancement of horrendous evil wherever it arises! There is a lot of critism of his more recent books, but the earlier books have been read more than once around here. My personal favorite was Rainbow Six.

Red Rabbit
Without Remores (about John Clark)
Patriot Games
The Hunt for Red October
The Cardinal of the Kremlin
Clear and Present Danger (with John Clark)
The Sum of All Fears
Debt of Honor
Executive Orders
Rainbow Six (John Clark)
The Bear and the Dragon
The Teeth of the Tiger (Jack Ryan's Son)

CUSSLER, CLIVE  - P - Very limited and non-descriptive mature content, Clive writes a fun adventure story that usually borders on sci-fi.  His character, Dirk, usually meets a mystery man while solving the world's problems. The mystery man's name - why Clive Cussler, of course! My favorite is Sahara .

Pacif Vortex!
The Mediterranean Caper
Iceberg
Raise the Titanic
Vixen 03
Night Probe!
Deep Six
Cyclops
Treasure
Dragon
Sahara
Inca Gold
Shock Wave
Flood Tide
Serpent
Atlantis Found
Blue Gold
Vahalla Rising
