My Premature Angel
and
My Once Premature Young Man

I have had two premature children.  Marshall was my first child and born only six weeks early.  But that was in 1979 and he weighed only three pounds and six ounces.  Marshall spent his short life in the hospital.  He died in my arms when he was 8 1/2 weeks old.

I was told by the doctors that all of my babies would be premature and all would probably die.  I had seen my children in vision and was determined to get them here.  Over the next many years I would give birth to nine more babies.  In order to have them I would spend what amounted to years in bed as I would go to complete rest when I was 15 weeks pregnant.

It was hard.  It was especiallyj emotional because each day I knew that if I had my baby early I might have to bury another little one.  But all of them survived.  Another of my babies did end up coming early.  Ben was born ten weeks prematurey, weighted 4 pounds 3 ounces and stayed in the hospital only four weeks.  He is now 18 and a joyful son.  My life is full as I raise each of these wonderful children I sacrificed so much to bring to life.

Here my writings showing the influence prematurity has had in our lives.   I have written about all of my babies.  But I am only including here those stories associated with prematurity rather than just the threat of the trauma.
