Molly Mormon, Cathy Catholic, Polly Protestant
What a Woman!
By Cherie Logan

Molly Mormon is the perfect woman.  My Catholic friend calls her Cathy Catholic.  I have had Protestant friends call her Polly Protestant.  Whatever the religion or culture she invades our sanity.

She never raises her voice.  I fail.  She is up before the rest of her household.  I sometimes fail.  She takes time to put on her makeup each day.  Again, I fail.  She has her house clean and orderly.  My children fail.

She sews all of the clothes for the family.  I really fail here.  She bakes their bread.  I do succeed in this task when desperation demands it.  She cans her food.  I have only begun to succeed in this skill.  She plants a garden, even in the winter she grows something.  I have failed miserably but I have a child who is beginning to succeed.

She reads and understands the scriptures.  I succeed.  She has children or would if she could.  I succeed.  She uses a day planner.  I succeed, this week.  She understands and teaches her children.  I succeed.  She understands and supports her husband.  Again, I succeed.  She serves others in need.  I succeed when the need is pointed out.

She is happy, forgiving, faithful and peaceful.  I 'suced' meaning that sometime I forget some of the letters.  In other words, I sometimes have to remind myself that underneath all the current frustration, I really am joyful!

She is wise and frugal with money.  Sadly, this one is another failure.  She uses coupons.  I thought those little slips of paper were just packing material.  She listens to the Holy Ghost.  Hey!  Another success!  She hosts parties.  An almost daily success for me.  She creates wonderful works of art to beautify her home.  A consistent failure for me.

She enjoys romance.  SUCCESS!  Failure.  Success.  It all depends upon where I have placed my hormones this year.  She is ever learning.  A big success here.  She does her family research.  An addictive success here.  She probably does more things than I can even think of.

So, what about her?  I have found that the mention of Molly Mormon brings up three basic responses: irritation, depression, and laughter.

The women who respond with irritation are the ones who think that such a woman is completely fictional.  They don't want to have any part of such a myth.

The women who respond with depression are the ones who think there really is such a person.  They know that they can never be her no matter how hard they try.

The women who laugh are the ones who get a kick out of the thought that anybody would even want to be that person.  Oh, maybe someday, line upon line.  But born fully grown into perfection?  No.  They find it funny because they enjoy the things they already do.  They realize that they will gratefully never do some of those things.  Since they don't expect to do it all anyway, at least not this day, this week, this year, they can smile at the perfection concept.

Oh, did I mention that Molly Mormon also has a sense of humor and a great attitude?  I find her to be a hilarious lady!
