Unheld
Babies
Aborted
Innocents
by
Cherie Logan
The
Church has declared
that abortion is, "'like unto murder." It can be repented
of.
To understand this sin, one should understand what is considered the
most
serious of sins besides that against the Holy Ghost. Murder is
most
serious. Murder is not war, self defense or accident.
Adultery,
which is sexual contact with anybody a person is not married to, comes
next in seriousness. In between these two lie abortion and
rape.
Rape because something most precious is attacked by force and abortion
because something even more precious is taken by force. I
believe,
personally, that the reason it is considered, "like unto murder,"
rather
than murder is because the spirit and or Heavenly Father can still
choose
for that spirit to obtain another body or await the resurrection.
Even so, the willful action holds more eternal consequence then almost
any other willful act.
We
are to liken the
Book of Mormon to our day because the prophets who wrote the various
records
and again when Mormon compiled them into book form, had seen our
day.
They knew what we will go though and wrote that which we will need to
know.
At the very end of the Book are a few verses that cause the mind to
ponder
the severity of abortion when the scriptures are likened to today's
happenings.
Mormon
in writing
to his son, Moroni:
Behold,
my son,
I cannot recommend them unto God lest he should smite me.
Moroni
9:21
Mormon
was talking
about the Nephites. What circumstances would bring a Prophet of
God
to not even be able to pray for a people? We find the awful state
of the Lamanites described as such:
And
the husbands
and fathers of those women and children they have slain;
and
they feed
the women and the children upon the flesh of their fathers;
and
no water,
save a little do they give them.
Moroni
9:8
This
description is
horrid to the imagination! And yet he goes on to describe
wickedness
of the Nephites as being far worse:
And
not withstanding
this great abomination of the Lamanites,
it
doth not exceed
that of our people in Moriantum.
For
behold, many
of the daughters of the Lamanites have they taken prisoners;
and
after depriving
them of that which was most dear and precious above all things,
which
is chastity
and virtue - And after they had done this thing,
they
did murder
them in a most cruel manner, torturing their bodies even unto death;
and
after they
have done this, they devour their flesh like unto wild beasts,
because
of the
hardness of their hearts;
and
they do it
for a token of bravery.
Moroni
9:9-10
When a
President
of this country approved the research of fetus tissue to aid illnesses
such as Parkinson's' disease, he approved the taking of a body part
(the
brain) of a living baby. The medical and political goal is to
eventually
approve the use of that tissue in some form to be ingested for benefit
of the living. This is so much like eating the flesh of those
tortured
as a token of bravery, which bravery benefits the abuser. Yes,
this
is a horrid, "likening to our day," but it can't be denied that it is
appropriate.
Partial
birth abortion
comes about because the cry was that a woman not only had a right to an
abortion, but a right to a dead baby as a result of that
abortion.
There was a court battle over this and the abortionists lost because
once
born, the baby has legal rights. Because that battle was lost, a
medical staff needed to be present to save the baby during third
trimester
abortions just in case the baby made it through alive. With this
appalling technique, death is assured before birth so the question of a
baby's legal rights can be avoided. But, I digress.
I was
once asked
if Satan was being tricked into hurrying up the Lord's work through
abortion.
Was the incredible number of innocents being refused birth building an
army on the Lord's side? Is abortion really part of the Lord's
design
for the last days?
Absolutely
not!
It is very important that we not present the possibility that through
this
sin, we are bringing about goodness. When the Lord turns bad
things
to good it is most often through our coming to depend upon his mercy,
comfort,
teachings and those things that bring us closer to him. He can
turn
bad things good by other events happening that we could not
foresee.
However, it is Christ who does the good, not Satan. Satan may
have
tempted, but man chooses. In choosing wickedness, man reaps the
fruit
of wickedness. By again choosing Christ and all that entails, man
reaps the fruit of righteousness. So I don't believe that Satan rushes
us towards the Millennium, but rather that the Lord and his faithful
people
encourage its unfolding.
I
have known a few
woman who have aborted their babies. The feelings of grief and
anger
were tremendous when they learned of the Lord and his Gospel. How
grateful I was on their behalf that abortion is considered 'like unto
murder'
and not fully murder.
Certainly
there is
wisdom in the Lord for this. That in no way detracts from the
seriousness
of the sin and the depth needed for true repentance. But it can
happen,
and when it does, the peace must be beyond belief.
An
Unusual Visit and Request
I was
talking with
a friend in my living room and when she became quiet. Then she
said,
"Cherie, there are spirits here." I turned and saw my son, Marshall,
who
had died. With him I also saw my children who had not yet been
born.
I had seen these children before. Then, Marshall introduced me to
a child I had never seen. This child begged to be a part of our
family.
I agreed. He asked three times and each time I agreed.
On
the third time
he mentioned that he was, "a Cast Off One," and begged entry into our
family.
My friend saw all of this experience up to this point.
A
path opened before
me and among other things I saw the Lord standing in this field of
white
cradles. In the cradles were babies and many but not all of them,
held ia fistful of white papers.
The
Lord looked at
me and said, "These are the Cast Off Ones. Their blood
cries
to me from the earth." I clearly knew he meant that they were
aborted
babies. I was so very grateful that I had never been part of that
sin!
Then
he said, "My
presence is all that keeps grief from overcoming them. The
Willingness
of Mothers is what they hold in their hands and gives them Hope."
I understood in that instance that The Willingness of Mothers is a
title
given to those women who would have more if they could, the elderly,
the
barren, the ones who have had as many right now as the Lord says, all
of
us who would if we could.
Then
I saw that scene
close and this young boy was again in front of me saying, "I am a
cast-off
one and I beg entry into your family." Once again I
consented,
and then I saw that he held that white paper in his hands. He
said
"My name is Joshua, I am the last and I bring with me an extension of
your
life."
Over
the years I
have discovered that this young man will be one of my
grandchildren.
I wonder how many children will come to loving families after having
that
first heart-breaking experience.
This
vision was mine.
I do not claim it for any other. I know, not believe, not hope,
not
speculate, but intensely know that these children, all of our children,
are alive before they come to us and continue to live once they leave
us.
Nothing is lost. They are first the Lord's and he watches over
them
and fiercely guards them from the darkness that would try to erase all
the Children of God.
We
must not allow
our faith to be shaken in these fearsome days, but rather we must stand
firm in that knowledge that will make us free. There are many,
many
children who will need parents who stand in Holy Places in the times
ahead.
Many little angels who await the Millennium to be raised by gentle,
loving
parents who truly know the Lord.
